FAQs!
HOW MUCH DOES DANCE COST? Our fees vary depending on the program. 6 week dance classes are $65 and 10month dance classes start at $36 per month for a 30min class each week, $45 per month for a 45min weekly class, $53 per month for a 1hr weekly class, etc. GST is included in these fees. For more info please see the fee chart on the ‘registration’ tab above.
IS THERE A DRESS CODE? Yes. In order to get the most from their classes by allowing the teachers to properly view and correct their posture and alignment, and to aide in the participants safety while being physically active in the class, there is a dress code. For specifics for each class visit the ‘registration’ tab above. We do sell bodysuits, shorts, tights and ballet slippers at the studio.
WHEN IS THE DEADLINE? Its really best to begin at the beginning, but if you need a little more time to get school schedules settled first, providing there is room in the class we will accept new registration for 10month programs into January. 6 week sessions are ongoing throughout the season.

2024-25 AUDITIONS
If you are interested in learning more about CO’s demi or full competitive programs for the 2024/25 season please email the office and we can get you all the information and help in setting up an audition.
There is no audition required for those wanting to take any recreational (once per week) dance class at CO. The competitive dance team program is an optional program that requires audition. Its for those dancers who have some dance and stage performance experience, and are ready to take the next step into more focused training with structured classes.
If you are unsure if you want the Demi-comp or Competitive options, we suggest you audition for them both and see where you are placed.
Both Demi-comp and Competitive programs have equal expectations for dancers to demonstrate a high level of commitment to their training and to uphold a strong dedication to their teams with good attendance and participation in all classes, good sportsmanship, respect, work ethic and teamwork.
Dress code all black, tight fitting athletic clothing, barefeet/turners. Hair must be back and tidy off face. Hip hop wear comfortable clothing and runners. Hair back off face.
Mini-development program
Dancers 5yrs by December 31, 2024 who are excited to attend dance class each week and learn new steps, have great attendance and great listening skills, and truly loved their time on stage at recital might be interested in the challenge that CO’s mini dancer development program offers.
Once accepted to the program dancers train in proper jazz technique, ballet with the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus, acro through the Acrobatic Arts syllabus. Dancers have the option to do exams in ballet and acro.
Using correct terminology and progressions, dancers develop their dance skills, artistry, musicality, strength and flexibility. They have the opportunity to work as part of a team, build great friendships and a lifelong love for dance!
The program runs September to June. It includes 2 stage recitals (Feb and June) and 2 competitions during the season. Program fees are the same for recreational classes or for this development program. And the overall intent is still the same too… to create a safe and fun atmosphere for our dancers!
Demi-competitive
Groups will attend 2-3 competitions (March to May) and have 2 stage performances (February and June). Depending on registration, we plan to have jazz, stage, tap, lyrical, acro and hip hop in different ages. For jazz, lyrical, acro and stage a separate jazz tech class is required. Ballet is highly recommended, but not required for demi-comp groups. Hip hop tech is recommended, but not required. Tech classes do not perform/compete.
Dancers can overlap between demi-comp and competitive groups. For example, a dancer may do competitive hip hop and take demi-competitive jazz, or vice versa.
Auditions are combined for jazz/lyrical/stage but these will be separate groups and if placed on the Demi-Comp team dancers can choose to do one or all.
Competitive
Groups may attend up to 8 competitions (March to May) and have 2 stage performances (February and June). Competitive groups have more pre-requisite classes;
Acro – must take minimum 1hr ballet + jazz tech + acro tech
Tap – must take tap tech
Hip Hop – must take hip hop tech
Stage – must take minimum 1hr ballet + jazz tech
Jazz – must take minimum 1hr ballet + jazz tech (mini/jr must take acro tech)
Ballet/Pointe – must take minimum 2hrs RAD ballet & pointe tech
Contemporary – must take minimum 1hr ballet + jazz tech + contemporary tech
Dancers can overlap between demi-comp and competitive groups. For example, a dancer may do competitive hip hop and take demi-competitive jazz, or vice versa.
